Art in Public Places (APP) — 30 years of transforming Fort Collins through public art
For three decades, the City of Fort Collins’ Art in Public Places (APP) program has enriched the community by placing art in public spaces, accessible to everyone. According to a recent feature, APP will host its 30th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Nov 8 (6:00–8:30 p.m.) at the Center for Creativity (200 Mathews Street).
What started as a modest initiative to commission local artwork has grown into a program that integrates murals, sculptures, and community-driven art installations across trails, parks and downtown venues. The anniversary event will feature reflections from artists, planners and community members who have seen APP evolve alongside Fort Collins.
As Fort Collins continues to grow, APP stands out for elevating placemaking, enhancing neighborhood identity and making art a part of everyday public experience. In other words: APP doesn’t just decorate the city — it helps define it. Whether you’re biking along a trail or grabbing coffee downtown, you’re likely encountering APP’s work.
